This blog: a place to ventilate some ideas, put things out there and generally rant about things that make me angry and things I care about.
This writer: I write, I play piano. I run a writing development project in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. I’m arrogant enough to have a page on this website promoting my novel, Far Inland.

Dear Peter,
I enjoyed “Orain Floraidh” in The Living Tradition and am going to cite it. Would you tell me the issue no. and date of publication please. If there is a page number or numbers would you enclose them too. Try as I did I could not find the data on the web.
If it is not to ask too much could you give me a physical and E address for Calum MacNeil in Castlebay?
My bonae fides spring mostly from a book on Gaelic bagpiping (1998). My boyhood was spent by the Callop so I am hopelessly addicted!
Sincerely, John G. Gibson
Hi John – thnaks veyr much for your response and kind comments. I’m very sorry but I’m not sure how much use I can be to you. The piece on Flora was written more than 10 years ago I think, and I don’t have hard copy of the original publicaiton myself. Please just credit me and Living Tradition Magazine, if I find anything more out, I’ll certainly let you know.
Cal MacNeil used to be involved with the History Society on barra, and I think his wife might still be. He lives in the Nask area of Castlebay on Barra. Very sorry also but I always just called at the house rather than phoning or e-mailing.
Pete
